Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) stars as Marvel Comics' mighty Asgardian god of thunder. Kenneth Branagh (Henry V, Hamlet) heads behind the camera to chronicle this tale of the arrogant god exiled from the otherworldly wonders of Asgard by his angry dad (Anthony Hopkins). The deposed hammer-thrower ends up crash-landing on Earth where assorted human beings (cute Natalie Portman chief among them) find his origin story a bit hard to swallow--that is until Thor's evil brother Loki (British TV actor Tom Hiddleston) comes a-scheming with some mystical monsters in tow. The tale is simple, but it works a strong magic, giving viewers a just-plain-fun-to-watch tale of fantasy and adventure. 114 minutes PG-13.
