These two have been in detention for a looong time.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

The well-engineered premise of this mature romantic comedy finds sad-sack, middle-aged Steve Carell looking for love in all the wrong places after his unhappy wife (Julianne Moore) drops a divorce request on him. Smooth-talking ladies' man Ryan Gosling spots our protagonist and offers to take the guy under his wing. There are many more characters and storylines in the mix, all centering around the film's main idea--namely, that love and sex aren't cure-alls. Often, they're the very cause of our ills. Sounds dour, but the film is hilarious, sad, sexy, touching and unexpectedly gentle. FULL REVIEW: Unpredictable romantic comedy marries drama and a big-name cast for lovable results by Devin D. O’Leary (7/28/2011). 118 minutes PG-13.
