Little-known fact: Every year, one actor must be sacrificed, Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery"-style, to appease the gods of entertainment. The preferred method of dispatch? Starring in a live-action/CGI cartoon hybrid. Past sacrifices have included Breckin Meyer (Garfield), Jason Lee (Alvin and the Chipmunks) and Tom Cavanagh (Yogi Bear). This year's lamb-to-the-slaughter is Neil Patrick Harris, playing a modern New Yorker who discovers a pack of tiny, blue Smurfs in Central Park. Katy Perry, George Lopez and Jeff Foxworthy voice some of the Smurfs. 86 minutes PG.
