This G-rated sports parable stars Lucas Black (Sling Blade) as a rageaholic golfer who--following a disastrous debut on the pro circuit--finds himself stranded in clean-cut little Utopia, Texas. There, he's mentored by a rancher so wise in the ways of metaphorical speeches, he might as well be played by Morgan Freeman (but he's not, he's played by Robert Duvall). The film is based on sports psychologist David L. Cook's best-selling, golf-based self-help book Golf's Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia. If you think that sounds suspiciously Christian in nature, that's because it is. Think The Karate Kid, but with golf. And Jesus. 99 minutes G.
