The Business of Strangers

This directorial debut aspires to be the female equivalent of Neil LaBute's In the Company of Men. It isn't quite that polished, but it is a vitriolic look at the cutthroat attitudes of modern business people. Stockard Channing stars as a successful, middle-aged business woman stuck at an airport hotel with her contentious young assistant (Julia Stiles). Over the course of one night, the duo engage in some seductive head games with a dim-witted corpoarte headhunter. The film is stagy and the dialogue rather scripted, but the acting is viciously good and the examination of ambition, sexuality, gender and aging in corporate America is wickedly incisive. 84 minutes
