Hollywood Ending

Leave it to Woody Allen to concoct a dead-on parody of himself. In this slapstick comedy, he plays a once-famous, now washed-up film director whose last few films have tanked at the box office. Suddenly, he's presented with a chance to direct a multi-million dollar film. Unfortunately, he suffers from a fit of psychosomatic blindness due to the pressure and is forced to make the entire film without being able to see. Allen's comic strong suit is cerebral dialogue and not physical comedy. As a result, some of the film feels like a mis-match. The romance (as always in an Allen film) feels a bit preposterous, but when he sticks to insider jabs at the film industry, Allen scores some solid laughs. 112 minutes
