Female Trouble

John Waters' trash epics reached some sort of high point with this 1974 crime comedy about a spoiled teenager (plus-size female impersonator Divine) who runs away from home (on Christmas, even) and gets into a whole mess of trouble. Determined to become famous through a life of crime and debauchery, our heroine gets pregnant, robs banks, goes to beauty school and becomes "the most glamorous woman in the world." Like all of Waters' early films, this one's an unabashed celebration of the tacky, the trashy and the tasteless. Double-featured with Hairspray. 89 minutes NC-17.
