You could say this is a shot-for-shot remake of Gustavo Hernandez' Uruguayan horror thriller La Casa Muda--but there's only one shot in the entire film. It's an uncut 85-minute take in which a young woman (the fine Elizabeth Olsen) and her controlling father show up at a crumbling family estate to do some fix-up work. While cleaning up, they hear some mysterious noises on the second floor. Dad goes to investigate and doesn't come back. What follows are some bump-in-the-night scares, an extremely minimalist story and a hard-to-swallow twist ending. 85 minutes R.
