The Intouchables

After he loses the use of his legs in a hang-gliding accident, an uptight rich Frenchman (François Cluzet) hires a streetwise Senegalese kid (Omar Sy) to become his caretaker. A massive hit in France, this laugh-and-cry buddy dramedy uses clunky stereotypes to prove that black people and white people can actually be friends. (By dancing to funk music!) That's kind of a radical notion in xenophobic France, but it comes across as terribly cliché on these shores. In French with English subtitles. 112 minutes R.
