Wondering why times are missing?

The Third Man

This engrossing 1949 adaptation of the Graham Green thriller makes all other would-be crime dramas look pretty weak in comparison. Joseph Cotten stars as an American reporter who arrives in postwar Vienna, only to discover that his old pal Harry Lime (Orson Welles) is dead. Of course, Lime isn't really dead, he's just pulling the old switcheroo. Welles is at the top of his game as the cinema world's ultimate amoral scoundrel, the redoubtable Harry Lime. Brit Director Carol Reed contributes some of the finest film noir cinematography ever. If you haven't seen this, you've got a serious gap in your film history education. 93 minutes
