Ukrainian director Andrzej Zalawski (Boris Godounov, Szamanka) contributes one hell of a crazy, mind-bending, psycho-sexual horror drama. In this long-lost, David Cronenberg-esque art film from 1981, Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill play a troubled couple who fight all the damn time. Eventually, their animosity begins to manifest itself in some freaky physical ways. The creature effects from Carlo Rambaldi (E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Alien) are icky all right, but the horrors here are more symbolic than anything else. Part of Guild Cinema's erotic horror double-feature, alongside Lady Frankenstein. 127 minutes R.
