Red Dawn

Back in 1984, America--thanks in no small part to President Ronald Reagan--was seized by a quaint sort of jingoism that made films like the original Red Dawn seem appropriate. Now Patrick Swayze has been replaced by Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and the evil commie Russians invading small-town America have been replaced by evil commie North Koreans. Actually, they were replaced by evil commie Chinese--but during the two years this remake sat on the shelf collecting dust, somebody decided to digitally alter all the Chinese soldiers so they looked North Korean. Go figure. Your enjoyment level on this film will probably depend on how likely you think it is that North Korea could take over the United States. And that a handful of redneck high schoolers could fight them off when the combined might of the U.S. armed forces could not. 93 minutes PG-13.
