Promised Land

Dave Eggers wrote the original story, actors Matt Damon and John Krasinski typed up the screenplay, and Gus Van Sant (who worked with Damon on a little film called Good Will Hunting) directed. That's a lot of behind-the-scenes talent for an earnest but hokey drama about a conscience-laden salesman trying to talk small-town farmers into selling their land for natural gas fracking. 106 minutes R.
