Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, The Lucky One, A Walk to Remember, Messsage in a Bottle) loves the sap more than a Saskatchewan maple tree farmer. Here, another of his supermarket checkout aisle romance novels gets turned into a rowboats-and-sunsets film about a young woman with a mysterious past (Julianne Hough) who comes to small-town, coastal North Carolina and falls in love with a widowed single father (Josh Duhamel). It's Valentine's Day, though, so we'll give this formulaic romance a break. 111 minutes PG-13.
