Filmmaker John Sayles (Matewan, Lone Star) contributes a lengthy, occasionally absorbing rumination on history, property and urban planning. Sayles picks his way through a dozen or so characters at a run-down Florida beach resort which is in the process of being co-opted by a giant development company. The languid story takes a few too many detours for casual viewers, but the top-notch cast (topped off by "Sopranos" maven Edie Falco) makes the whole thing a whip-smart indie offering. 141 minutes
