Cinco de Mayo: The Battle

From Mexico comes this epic drama about May 5, 1862, when a few thousand Mexican soldiers fought off a bunch of Frenchmen. It's not Mexican Independence Day, but it is a holiday fondly commemorated, mostly in the U.S., with lots of beer commercials. Writer-director Rafa Lara (The Fifth Commandment, Labios Rojos) dumped $10 million into this, which is a lot of money for a Mexican film. In Spanish with English subtitles. 125 minutes R.
