Wondering why times are missing?

This one caused quite a stir at this year's Sundance. Actually, it's a pretty sweet, if unambitious, coming-of-age comedy—despite its racy subject matter. Sixteen-year-old Oscar (standout newcomer Aaron Standford) has returned home to New York from his upscale boarding school. His Thanksgiving vacation is spent obsessing over his sexy new stepmother (played by Sigourney Weaver) and sleeping (semi-accidentally) with her best friend (Bebe Neuwirth). The dry, witty treatment of a taboo subject matter calls to mind the 1970s cult hit Harold and Maude. At times, the film's tone is a little too lightweight—one could have hoped for something a bit more meaty—but the film is quite endearing and features some well-earned laughs. 78 minutes
