The Grandmaster

Ip Man—the legendary Wing Chun instructor who taught Bruce Lee how to kick ass— has seen his fair share of biopics lately (2009's Ip Man, 2010's Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster, 2010's The Legend is Born: Ip Man and 2013's Ip Man: The Final Fight). Filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai (Chungking Express, Fallen Angels, In the Mood For Love) figures he ought to give it a shot, too. Tony Leung (Hero, Infernal Affairs) stars as the martial arts master. Since it's Wong, the film is dreamy and gorgeous—but this philosophical history lesson might not have all the action some are craving. 108 minutes PG-13.
