The Grandmaster

Ip Man--the legendary Wing Chun instructor who taught Bruce Lee how to kick ass-- has seen his fair share of biopics lately (2009's Ip Man, 2010's Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster, 2010's The Legend is Born: Ip Man and 2013's Ip Man: The Final Fight). Filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai (Chungking Express, Fallen Angels, In the Mood For Love) figures he ought to give it a shot, too. Tony Leung (Hero, Infernal Affairs) stars as the martial arts master. Since it's Wong, the film is dreamy and gorgeous--but this philosophical history lesson might not have all the action some are craving. 108 minutes PG-13.
