Wondering why times are missing?

Inside Llewyn Davis

The Coen brothers (Fargo, No Country for Old Men) contribute this atypically downbeat drama recreating life during the Greenwich Village folk music scene of the early 1960s. Our protagonist is a self-centered folkie played by virtual unknown Oscar Isaac. We watch as the titular Mr. Davis lives through a particularly bad weekend, most of which is the product of his nasty personality and poor life choices. The film is not without its deadpan humor (and great music), but it's a doggedly anti-nostalgic look back in time and space. 104 minutes R.
