Camille Claudel 1915

Juliette Binoche stars as Auguste Rodin's protégé and sister of the Christian/mystic poet Paul Claudel. Writer/director Bruno Dumont (Humanité) has based this biopic on the correspondence between Paul and Camille and focuses on the woman's struggle to find recognition as an artist in her own right--even while confined to a mental institution for 29 years. The film was shot inside a real psychiatric asylum and includes a supporting cast of real-life patients and their nurses. In French with English subtitles. 97 minutes Unrated.
