Luis Buñel Film Festival

UNM's SouthWest Film Center is tipping their beret this weekend to the father of cinematic surrealism, Spanish artíste Luis Buñel. Friday features 1962's Exterminating Angel, a complex lampoon of societal conventions set at a dinner party that never ends, and 1928's Un Chien Andalou, which is really freaky weird. Saturday features 1961's Viridiana, Buñuel's controversial examination of young girl's corruption at her uncle's estate, and 1965's Simon of the Desert, a comic attack on the Catholic church centering on a vain, sexually repressed Christian saint.
