Jodorowsky's Dune

This surprisingly inspiring documentary looks at Chilean surrealist Alejandro Jodorowsky's infamously aborted attempt to turn Frank Herbert's novel Dune into an epic sci-fi film. The behind-the-scenes glimpses at "what might have been" are mind-blowing. But what's most surprising about the incredibly spry 85-year-old Jodorowsky's recollections is the Zen-like level of satisfaction he derives from having created a masterpiece that exists only in his mind and not on celluloid. FULL REVIEW: Surrealist filmmaker’s long-lost masterpiece comes to life in imaginative, inspirational documentary by Devin D. O’Leary (4/24/2014). 90 minutes PG-13.
