The Railway Man

Mild-mannered Colin Firth stars as a PTSD-stricken former British Army officer who was tormented as a prisoner of war in a Japanese labor camp during World War II. When he discovers the man responsible for his torture is still alive, he sets out to confront him. There are some heavy elements at play here, but the film delivers too much stiff upper lip and not enough emotion. At least Nicole Kidman gets to cry a bit as Firth's supportive wife. 116 minutes R.
