Young Lakota

Strong New Mexico Families and a host of other organizations (including Native American Voters Alliance and Native Youth Sexual Health Network) are presenting this award-winning documentary. In 2006 Cecilia Fire Thunder, the first female President of the Oglala Sioux tribe, challenged a South Dakota law criminalizing all abortion and ignited a political firestorm. This film follows the lives of three young Lakota on the Pine Ridge Reservation who were impacted by this statewide referendum on abortion and a divisive tribal election. 83 minutes Unrated.
