Actor John Slattery from "Mad Men" directed this indie dramedy, one of the last on-screen appearances by Philip Seymour Hoffman. The late actor plays Mickey, a schlubby everyman in a working-class Philadelphia neighborhood whose no-good stepson is murdered at a construction site. Our downbeat/beatdown protagonist is supposed to make things right, arranging the burial and collecting some debts from some bad people--but he gets sidetracked by drinking and gambling. John Turturro, Richard Jenkins and Christina Hedricks round out the "friends doing favors" cast. 88 minutes R.
