Novelist Irvine Welsh's follow-up to Trainspotting comes to the big screen in the form of this explosively seedy tragicomedy about an exceptionally dirty police detective (James McAvoy, X-Men: Days of Future Past) trying to solve a murder. This gonzo noir lacks the artistic zeitgeist of Trainspotting, but writer-director Jon S. Baird (Cass) tries to make up for it with as much sexual depravity, drug abuse, nasty language, racism, sexism and all-out nihilism as possible. 97 minutes R.
