Snowpiercer

South Korean director Bong Joon-ho (The Host, Mother) directs this effects-heavy adaptation of an obscure French graphic novel. Thanks to a scientific experiment gone wrong, global climate change has plunged the Earth into a new ice age. The last remaining humans survive on a massive train, plunging through the frozen landscape powered by a perpetual motion engine. But humanity has devolved into a rigid caste system, with the wretched poor confined to the back of the train and the privileged rich in the front. But revolution is a-brewing, thanks to working-class tough guy Chris Evans (Captain America: The Winter Soldier). Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer and John Hurt are among the international cast of this propulsive action flick. In English, French, Korean and Japanese with English subtitles. 125 minutes R.
