Mood Indigo

Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep, The Green Hornet) writes and directs this weirdly whimsical/strangely grim fantasy romance about a wealthy, inventive bachelor (Romain Duris) who tries to find a cure for his lover (Audrey Tautou) after she is diagnosed with an unusual illness caused by a flower growing in her lungs. It's based on Boris Vian's novel L'Écume des Jours. If Pee-wee Herman were a French postwar surrealist, he might make a movie like this. 94 minutes Unrated.
