Alice's Restaurant

Guild Cinema celebrates Thanksgiving with director Arthur Penn's 1969 adaptation of Arlo Guthrie's seriocomic anthem. Guthrie more or less plays himself, a hippie who hitchhikes, plays guitar, gets drafted, goes for an Army physical and hangs out with his Earth Mother pal Alice. Pete Seeger drops by at one point. There isn't much in the way of plot, but it's a pretty solid paean/memorial to the counterculture movement of the late '60s. 111 minutes R.
