Soft For Digging

A sleeper hit at the 2002 Seattle International Film Festival, this avant-garde horror/suspense film began as a thesis project at NYU film school. The story concerns an elderly hermit who lives by himself in the Maryland woods. One day, while searching for his runaway cat, he witnesses the murder of a young girl--or so he thinks. He informs the police, but there is no evidence, and no one will believe the old coot. Haunted by the image of the young girl, our protagonist sets out to solve this mystery on his own. Minimalist, near-silent and filled with visual dread. 74 minutes
