Almost Holy

After the economic and political collapse of the Soviet Union, an increasing number of the Ukraine's youth ended up homeless and addicted to a cocktail of drugs and alcohol. In the early 2000s, a Ukranian pastor named Gennadiy Mokhnenko took up the fight against childhood homelessness by forcibly abducting street kids and bringing them to his Pilgrim Republic rehabilitation center. This controversial practice got him branded as a hero by some and a lawless vigilante by others. Here, documentarian Steve Hoover (Blood Brother) chronicles Mokhnenko's 15 year mission to make his troubled county a betrer place. 100 minutes PG-13.
