Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart and Steve Carell are among the cast members recruited into writer-director Woody Allen's latest period comedy-drama-romance. Back in the 1930s, a young Bronx nebbish (Eisenberg, doing "Woody Allen," of course) moves to Hollywood where he falls in love with the secretary of his powerful uncle, an agent to the stars. The backdrop is pretty and the cast is mostly game. But like most late-period Allen, it's inconsequential at best. 98 minutes PG-13.
