The Mummy

Universal is still trying to make "fetch" happen by relaunching (once again) all of its classic (read: public domain) monsters in a gigantic, interconnected "Dark Universe." (Just like Marvel's Avengers franchise ... they hope.) First out of the gate is this all-over-the-map action flick featuring Tom Cruise battling an ancient female mummy (Sofia Boutella from Star Trek Beyond) with the help of a secret, international, monster-fighting organization led by a Nick Fury-esque Dr. Jekyll (Russell Crowe). Yes, it's as silly as it sounds. But get ready for the Invisible Man, the Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, the Creature From the Black Lagoon, the Phantom of the Opera and the Hunchback of Notre Dame--coming soon to a theater near you. 110 minutes PG-13.
