A plus-sized, working-class white gal living in semi-urban nowhere New Jersey dreams of becoming a rap star. So, with her Indian best friend, a goth-punk kid and her wheelchair-bound nana, she forms a rap group. Equally far-fetched and familiar, this slight but sincere variation on 8 Mile works mainly thanks to star Danielle Macdonald. Her daydreaming rhyme-spitter is equally sympathetic and talented.
