Split Personality

The owners of Cheese and Coffee (119 San Pasquale SW) just announced that the popular Downtown deli will be closing its doors every day at 3pm from now on, and reopening at 4pm as Seared—a finer dining, beer-and-wine restaurant. The grand opening will be Friday, Aug. 25.

You Can See It From a Mile Away

So, Guy Fieri visited the Pueblo Harvest Cafe at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (2401 12th Street NW) while filming the Food Network show “Guy’s Family Road Trip.” It's just so hard to pay attention to anything else when his hair is onscreen, though.

Ronald Don't Play

McDonald’s India says its partner Connaught Plaza Restaurants violated the terms of their franchise agreement by not making royalty payments. In response, they announced last week that they will be closing down 169 India locations. I was never comfortable with the setup, anyhow. I know it wasn't real beef, but a burger joint in India just seems uncouth.

Silver Lining

The Range Cafe is celebrating its 25th anniversary on Sep. 5 and 6 at all four of The Range locations. You can expect specially priced menu items, cake, prizes and giveaways!

Big Wine

Wine Spectator just awarded La Casa Sena (125 E Palace, Santa Fe) the title of Best Award of Excellence in their Grand Awards.

Keep Out!

Frontier Restaurant (2400 Central SE) is getting serious about their parking. They say students (and maybe some faculty) at UNM have been using their lot to park in, and from now on, if you're there more than an hour, your car will be “makeshift” (whatever that means) booted and possibly towed. If you tend to hang around a restaurant longer than an hour, I guess you're not welcome, either.
