    Try to find the owner to get it out. Make a commotion around the car. Get the store owner to make an announcement over the PA.

    Vehicles are still ovens even if the windows are cracked. Dogs can suffer organ and brain damage from being overheated even if they don't die right there on the spot (which also happens).

    Break out the car window. In most states (not sure about NM) it is perfectly legal to break out a car window if a dog or other animal is in distress.
