  • Cash for clunkers round-up  [ Wed Aug 26 2009 1:04 PM ]

Now it's all over with and you want to know the important thingsā€”no, not if/when/how the government will every disburse that much promised cash. You want to know which were the most frequently traded in and which were the most popularly sold vehicles over the course of the program. Courtesy of Jalopnik we have it:

    6. Toyota Prius

    7. Nissan Versa

Looks like it was an outstanding deal for the Japanese.

So the GM bankruptcy the-sky-is-falling hysteria which propelled the CARS program along in the first place results in...zero GM cars on that top 10 list?? Wait, so you're telling me people still don't want 'em?

Outstanding deal for the Japanese, indeed. 3 Toyota models and 3 Honda models rounding out the top 10, wow.

  • Funny, huh?  [ Wed Aug 26 2009 4:14 PM ]

The manufacturers that people want to buy cars from are already financially solvent.

It's extremely unlikely that I'll ever own another vehicle from the ford group, but none the less, good on them for building cars that sell. Globally even. IIRC the f-150 series is the selling-est automobile line ever. They're represented TWICE on that list. Musta sold a shitload of 'em.

I can totally see you in a Lincoln Town Car. It's pretty much the epitome of class and geriatric sophistication.

The Ford Explorer line is also represented twice on that top trade-in list. Guess the Jurassic Park craze finally came to an end. :)
