I just want to know how people feel about dogs that bark excessively. I work from home at times and have two dogs a couple houses over that are constently barking and barking loudly. They are no ankle biters, they are big dogs. I have complained to the city and it still goes on.I have a large dog and yes she does bark but only if someone unknown enters the yard or is provoked but she stops soon after, these dogs just keep going. I think it is great that people have dogs but I don't feel it is fair for people in the surrounding area to suffer just because they want to have a pet.
The new neighborhood I live in definitely has much louder, more aggressive animals than where I was before. I don't take my dog on certain streets because of their insanity. Ultimately, owners are responsible for their pets behavior and should take their dogs to training if they can't handle all aspects of ownership. But they won't, so, get some headphones.
Yep, get some headphones. Dogs will be dogs. Actually what I've found to be very helpful in blocking out unwanted noise (such as my cat going insane at 1am) is an air purifier. Turn it to high and the fan will make enough white noise to muffle outside noise as well as clearing dust and pollen from the room. I've never slept better in my life.
Works not only for barking dogs and rambunctious cats but for blocking out snoring.
I don't see why we have to go out of our way to drown out the noise of a barking dog outside. Inside it is the owners problem but outside it becomes a problem for others. I know that dogs bark for a reason but there are some that just bark and don't stop. I read that in Albuquerque if a dog barks constently that it is a sign of neglect and the city can take the dog away. I know that is not always the case but people if you want to have a pet PLEASE have consideration for others in your surrounding area.
Two big, fierce-looking dogs live next door to me. Right outside of my bedroom window, really. They bark frequently, but not constantly. At first I thought it was going to be annoying, then realized that nobody would ever break into my house because of those dogs. They're the best alarm system.
Barks all the time during the week, during the weekend, all the time. are the owners never there, do they not hear the dog, are the neigbors comfortable with it, what is the deal. Believe me I understand the advantages of having a large barking dog for protection purposes (do have one big mutt)but there has to be some control. If I were to balst my radio for an hour or so someone would certainly complain, why should it be any different for dogs. Thank you everyone for their input, at least there are people out there that acknowledge that it can be a problem. If anyone knows of other forums or people out there concerning this problem please do tell.
