Pete's Home of the Halfbreed in the East Mountains. [ Thu Nov 18 2010 4:19 PM ]
Pete's is pretty decent. It's not the original Home of the Halfbreed, but they bought the name - or so I have been told. Here are a few bits of advice to keep in mind on your first visit:
1) They have two kinds of chile con queso - regular yellow queso with optional chorizo or white cheese with spinach. Go for the white with spinach; it's way spicier. The chorizo, by the way, is served on the side rather than mixed in, and it's greasy. Because it's chorizo. Chorizo is greasy.
2) Their red is better than their green. Trust me.
3) The Half-Breed is steak and enchiladas. It's too much food for most people. It looked pretty good, but the steak is about pork chop thin… it's not some big fat juicy steak, which is fine. It still looked like a ton of food.
