Smoke and Mirrors, people. [ Sun Dec 19 2010 12:31 PM ]
It is a slow day in the small North Dakota town of Pumphandle, and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody is living on credit.
A tourist visiting the area drives through town, stops at the motel, and lays a $100 bill on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs to pick one for the night.
As soon as he walks upstairs, the motel owner grabs the bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.
The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer.
The pig farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill to his supplier, the Co-op..
The guy at the Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit.
The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner.
The hotel proprietor then places the $100 back on the counter so the traveler will not suspect anything.
At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, picks up the $100 bill and leaves.
No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now out of debt and looks to the future with a lot more optimism.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how a Stimulus package works.
...on your stupid, uninformed, uneducated, teabagger veiw of the Simulus Pckage. I have personaly seen hundreds of thousands of dollars of medical, research and office equipment purchased through the Stimulus Package, as well as extentions allowed to research grants, new research grants and many new jobs created in New Mexico as well as elsewhere. All of that adds up to jobs and profits. It "stimulates" the economy. It puts money into buisness and buisnesses. It puts money and provides jobs and job security to American citizens. The rules of usage of those monies is quite clear and assures the money is used in very specific and benificial ways. Get it?
Step away from the conservitive talk radio, and take a look at what is really happening in the real world. You might just learn something positive.
Black, you didn't get the message. [ Wed Dec 22 2010 7:06 PM ]
ALL of the money comes out of one pocket, and into another. The pie is only SO big, and the slices get smaller every day. When you make money, it comes from someone else, who got it from someone else, who got it from someone else.
Before you call someone " stupid, uninformed, uneducated," you might want to learn how to spell, or at least use spell checker.
I'm sorry you can't see a piece of humor, for what it is: A piece of humor.
..you stupid, uninformed or uneducated. I don't know you. I used those terms to describe the vibe of your joke and how it comes across like somethig out of conservitive talk radio. Don't sweat it, I get the joke.
What I don't get is why you would care if my spelling is right or not. It's a freaking messageboard, not a resume. What are you, the spelling cop?
Why would I care? Why WOULDN'T I care? If you learned correct spelling, why would you NOT use it? And yes, it's a freakin messageboard, so leave an intelligent message. MAYBE others will understand you.
