"lso featured at the conference was Dr. Scott Lively, founder of Defend the Family and Redemption Gate Mission Society. Dr. Lively is the author of Redeeming the Rainbow and the Pink Swastika. Dr. Lively is on the top five "Most Dangerous" list by national homosexual and lesbian organizations. The audience at the conference was shocked and surprised as Dr. Lively unfolded the history of German homosexuals who founded the Nazi Party prior to Adolf Hitler. The expose highlighted the homosexual roots of German Fascism with warnings to America of ever increasing influence of homosexuals in American government, educational and commercial domains. These German Fascists were the first to establish national homosexual organizations in the United States." [link]

Why holding public ceremonies at Legacy Church is a bad idea. Does the sheriff's department really want to be thought of as condoning Legacy Church's conceits? As I had posted elsewhere: I think that unearned privilege is what the religious-right, in general, is mostly about. Full citizen equality is seen by some as a threat to some conservative Christian fantasies of some status quo ante hegemony, which it likely is. "The other" simply is not a member of "God's glorious supernatural born-again race" (as I remember Kenneth Copeland proclaiming on TV). "The other" is apparently not one in Christ Jesus. From megachurch pastor Steve Smothermon [link] : Born-again to God's royal family "places an individual above the common man and carries a distinction of honesty and integrity." (The common man, 'the other,' is therefore congenitally incapable of such a distinction, lacking in honesty, and has no personal integrity that God's Princes need respect?) "The Priveleges (sic) of Nobility" "As a believer you can claim your “noble birth.” We are elevated to the ranks of prince and princess in God’s family" Why yes indeed, a race of people stamped as "glorious" by God; princes of a powerful royal family, a privileged nobility set above the common man, believing that the common man is naturally inferior in character to his anointed superiors...that's really what America is all about today. That reflects America's highest ideals. That's what the world needs so very, very desperately. That's the good news. ...sigh Where I had posted this comment:
And, it's an especially bad idea to have it at Legacy... [ Thu Sep 1 2011 1:10 AM ]
