CommentsRe: The Right Side of History
Thank you NM Legislators [ Thu Feb 16 2012 5:08 PM ]
I don't for a minute believe that all physicans are so unconcerned regarding pain meds to their patients. However, I do think there are alot people out there that abuse their pain meds even if they have been warned. This, again comes down to personal responsibility. "Doctors write prescriptions that often sit unmonitored in family homes, according to a study in the International Journal of Drug Policy" according to the article. Quite frankly, I do not want anyone monitoring what I take or don't unless I'm in the hospital. Why? Because I take personal responsibility for what my doctor gives and tells me. If a parent has a child in their home taking pain meds then they need to supervise that medication and the same goes for the elderly who might not be able to handle how much they take. My mother is 93 and she handles all of her meds including the pain meds. My husband and I talk with her regularly about her medication and what she has been prescribed. Quite frankly, knowing my mom if she could only be prescribed 30 supply of pain meds she wouldn't bother with the nusance of refilling them. Then she would be in pain all the time. So, instead why don't all you people become more responsible with your familes and leave the rest of us alone. And finally, I haven't ran across any physican yet that I see who hasn't talked to me about any pain meds they have prescribed. They all have been responsible with how much they prescribe and they all prefer less to more. |
