Darbstar

"Darbstar" (birth name Colin Bennett Darby) is an American rapper born in Panorama City, CA, May 1979.The son of a police officer and secretary and nephew of Ken Darby...(Love me Tender, Wizard of Oz, Porgy and Bess) he had a penchant for bright lights and song at a young age. Growing up in the Los Angeles area in the 80's, Darby saw the highs and lows of a big city, but was sheltered from most of the worst. His family moved across the desert to New Mexico in the early 90's, a time when hip-hop music was in it's golden age and rappers were becoming ever more present in the music industry. Darby knew what he liked when he heard it. By what he credits "The Lord's Grace" he found his gift (saxophone and singing) and never looked back. Darby continued his education to complete High School in Albuquerque and obtain a Bachelor's degree at the University of New Mexico. He has many musical mentors and influences both in academia and the music he enjoys. His Freshman LP "Tuman Presents Darbstar" is available now on iTunes and CDBaby.
