My god man.
Nik Turner has made it clear he is not trying to "steal" the Hawkwind name, although Dave Brock's Hawkwind has made the worst-case scenario claim that the approval of "Nik Turner's Hawkwind" in the US wil ultimately lead to their losing the right to use the name Hawkwind at all. That seems far-fetched but will surely be a part of their objection to the US trademark that Nik Turner is seeking.
On that note, JohnnyH, you are correct. Nik Turner has not been granted rights to "Nik Turner's Hawkwind." It was reported that he'd been awarded the rights, but he has not. However Nik Turner evidently feels confident that he will not lose a court battle over a name that so clearly differs from "Hawkwind," and is therefore using "Nik Turner's Hawkwind" for this American tour. He has used this moniker since 1994's tour with Helios Creed and when he was also sued by Dave Brock, leading him to use the name Nik Turner's Space Ritual for the live album release instead. It also appears that Hawkwind's cancellation of their 2013 American tour informed Nik Turner's decision to stop marketing it under Nik Turner's Space Ritual, as was originally the case, and go with Nik Turner's Hawkwind instead. Make of that what you will.
At Nik Turner's appearnce in Albuquerque he made it clear that he would "welcome Dave Brock onto this stage and for that matter, Lemmy too." The guy would like to get the band back together, man. Anyone who has met Nik Turner will have no illusions about his good intentions. Furthermore he is not getting rich using the name "Nik Turner's Hawkwind" -in fact they are jamming econo and Turner pulled a Mike Watt by soliciting the audience (who paid a mere 8 bucks for a great show) for a place to stay the night (which they easily found).
It is an unusual feature of this proposal not to include any exceptions for victims of incest and rape, exceptions provided in other state and federal late-term abortion bans.
Needs an Alibi pin, stat.
the original run they had from 1968-1979 that ended like a major train wreck.
But yeah, they've had reunions.
According to Wikipedia, Ozzy's last performance with the original Black Sabbath was in Albuquerque, the final date of their 1978 tour with Van Halen.
Might as well post a link here.
I'd love to read it.
That the Atari Graveyard may be a myth makes this story even more interesting.
