Where Can you smoke  [ Fri Dec 3 2010 4:47 PM ]

For me, smoking and drinking go together like peaches and cream.

If any of you well traveled burque-boozers can share info with me on where to go to have a drink (or twenty) let me and some of the rest of us know.

If you drink but do not smoke, then flame me here too. I am so out of it that comdenation from my non-smoking brethren makes me feel good.

bring it!

Scary!  [ Fri Dec 3 2010 1:59 PM ]

Some of you guyz rantz are really scary, I do not know anything about "post wwII fascist" or stuff like that.

But I usually vote Democrat which I did almost full ticket except for that dumbass democrat that ran for Sheriff. Even the Alibi was on to that one (thanks Alibi).

I did not vote for Susana, and I believe the states problems are bigger than her campaign promises can fulfill or even address.

Truth is, the State of NM is in serious, even dire, financial condition. And as we speak, I do not believe the State Legislature will be able to help much. Consider it a year of the Legislature trying to douse wall to wall fires, and most possibly the cutting of government programs, read that: needed services needed by many.

I am optimistic the economy may expand enough to recover some income, the legislature may make it so out-of-state businesses, like Wally-World have to pay taxes in New Mexico and the like.

Most problems, after analysis can be solved, if maybe just a little at a time.

Please try not to be so dire and scary and try to smile more.

I do not want to talk about either of the last Bush Presidential Elections, but I do believe that the old dumbass Texan pulled one over on the American People and through hook and by crook, and I mean crook attained the office of the President of the United States of America

I would like to, as well ...  [ Wed Nov 17 2010 5:00 PM ]

Assault a Police Officer with a sex toy, that is.

It is just too good.

Better than writing your own headline.

New Books  [ Wed Sep 29 2010 9:13 AM ]

I have listened to on radio, watched on TeeWee, some very profoud reviews of Obama's Wars, and from an interest in the historical context, I believe that it would be a considered read.

Soon as they hit the used books list I aim to order a discounted copy - because I am a cheapo.

And because I believe that the book will be relavent for a very short time, then it will sink into deserved anonymity .

I wanna know  [ Wed Sep 29 2010 9:06 AM ]

And I especially do NOT wanna pick on madmamma, but what the hell does kafka-esque really mean?

does it mean anything at all?

or, does it mean what you want it to mean and therefore must be utilized in context?

Kafka is/was an amazing writer, monumental in his foresight and intelligence, not to say analytical abilities and good ol writin' talent.

I studied a little of this and a little of that of Kafka in college, sometimes in law and sometimes in business. His readings were generally spot on given the academic context - but I still wonder does everyone, anyone, or did I really understand his writings.

Agreeable Profundity; lots of context; syntax from hell and a command of the language that is beyond frightening.

kafka-esque  [ Wed Apr 21 2010 2:42 PM ]

a law prof at unm promised the class he would not use terms like "kafka-esque" in class.

He never did, quite, exactly.

But some that he did use were just as murky.

Thank-you professor davis for not using kafka-esque, and to

you

mad-mama,

thank you for using it.

luv mike Vick  [ Wed Sep 29 2010 8:48 AM ]

But, please do not forget the comeback of Muhammed Ali. The self-described greatest of all time.

Ennybody don't believe it, get some tape of his old fights, sure, he had some stinkers. But many of his fights were historical in his monumental performances.

I very much respect Mike Vick, but to rank him up any where near the greatest of all athletes is a little premature.

At the end of his career, perhaps, and he has the potential to be the greatest, perhaps, of all NFL Quarter backs.

He is popular because he is the current come-back kid, and America loves Come-Back Kids. And because he is Mike Vick. And because Mike Vick does what Mike Vick does.

He is "maturing" that is, not taking so many hasty risks, but this will only increase his effectiveness and perhaps, allow him more time to break all the records that he would need to be the "greatest of all time."

Good Luck Mike Vick

I just fell in love with the city, and even moreso with its' people. Havn't been back since the flood, but someday, I will. And I know that I will not be disappointed.

just like ...  [ Fri Sep 24 2010 1:15 PM ]

Just like what the inside of my cupboard looked like when I was in college, too.

In fact, everytime that I go to Smith's and I see those large stacks of ramen for sale by the case I remember being embarrased by how much ramen that I was buying back when I was a freshman.

Thank You  [ Thu Apr 22 2010 4:48 PM ]

Merry and fabulous felines, for all you do for the cat community around the 505.

I adopted a formerly-feral feline some 5 years ago, and, to its new human parent, he has never had a more loyal or loving friend. We have had "george" as he told us his name for 5+ years and another "found" kitty, Crazy Luna, for 15+ years.

Both are spayed and chipped and are living out their days in semi-retirement, in our home. They are very nice to us and share their furniture, as well. For all their love and loyalty they demand only the best of kitty food, litter and most of all love and attention.

These kittys have brought more to our lives than we ever could have predicted, and, even tho, they are far superior to us lowly humans, they tolerate our presence with quiet dignity.

So Thank You to all of you who do anything to preserve, protect, or promote the interests of the abandoned, former house-pets in the ABQ.

And, for anyone out there reading this, if a pet is in your future, please adopt from a local source. These animals will give you their lifetime of love and affection, loyalty, friendship and much, much, more.

Their only requirement is an open and loving heart and a willingness to explore their world with them.

And Thank You, Alibi and Staff for providing them the forum.

another pearl from the don  [ Thu Apr 22 2010 4:10 PM ]

Seeing another column written by the don, even tho I swear I told myself I would never read another of his rants the last time, is as compelling as the open curtains of a neighbors bedroom.

Try to avoid it as I might, I finally give in and read.

No more sassy responses to the alibi about freedom and police protection and medical and on and on and on ...

I have decided that the don is welcome to the pursuit of whatever for as long as he wishes.

An avid peacenik, I remember, long ago, papering my bedroom walls with "don't pay war tax" stickers.

I am glad that I went thru those days, and those WERE the days, but things DO change.

Times change - People Change and Social Mores too, though probably not to the extent to please the don, change they do.

So - ok don, go ahead and live as you choose. I do not want any responsibility for melting the ice caps either.

But for me, "dropping out" is no longer an option.

And to the Alibi,

Thank you for the Melrose Place [Fusion Theater Co's]advert o p. 16 of Alibi v.19 no.16.

I will never be able to look at david with a str8 face again.

And to Jessica C.C. - thanks for the re-boot of red earth. I just might flow by the pow-wow, or to the Launchpad - as soon as I determine if Red Earth is fo sho gona bee there.

thanks, Y'all
