To refute another of the many glaring inaccuracies in this progaganda-piece [ Sat Feb 20 2010 9:51 AM ]
Environmental improvements of deforestation, water quality, air pollution and wildlife habitats do not come about because of free markets. They come about because of strong environmental protection laws. Without the clean air act, LA's smog still be as bad as it was in the 1970s. Without the National Park Service, we would have a lot fewer forests. We need a balance between big government and big corporations. Re: WIPP Tides
Outcome-driven science [ Fri Jul 10 2009 11:38 AM ]
As a concerned citizen, I have every reason to believe that, in fact, the WIPP site was chosen based on faulty outcome-driven science. How can the DOE and the EPA convince us otherwise? We have seen time after time that government agencies are driven more by the outcome needed than by the the direct evidence (e.g., WMDs in Iraq? torture is effective? no global warming? nuclear energy is safe for its full life cycle?). Thank you Richard Hayes for your work. |
