The reporter falling in love with his/her subject goes as far back as It Happened One Night. In reality, the situation would be considered wrongheaded. On the other hand, fiction is made so that we can make unbelievable situations into an entertaining film.

As unrealisitic a film as Crank is, it's a good action romp.

As silly a film as The Proposal is, it's a fun romance film.
