...you slice it into 1/2" slices and then freeze it overnight. Don't add your fats until after you've ground it. Lay out your ground beef onto a cookie sheet and pour some melted butter over it. The cold meat will cause the butter to congeal, which is what you want--pockets of buttery goodness. Then you can roll it all together into your patty. Mmmm....
NM Rocks 2010 Pinup Calendar [ Sat Feb 7 2009 10:51 PM ]
Hey everyone! I thought I'd post this here because it encompasses more than music. Planning is underway for the 2010 New Mexico Rocks Pinup Calendar. As of now, there are three people involved in the planning, but we would love to get any motivated individuals who are willing to commit their time to this project. So far, its Eva Blaylock, Marnie Diehl, and me. We want to get an open forum going on what charity, sponsorships, and what musicians to feature. The first thing we're considering is what charity to give the proceeds. As you know, NM Rocks is a non-profit, and we would like to keep it local. We realize the title is "New Mexico" Rocks, but the logistics of getting calendars, CDs, merch, and events in other NM towns are a greater challenge than the few of us could handle. So we decided to keep it within the Albuquerque area (Santa Fe, Los Lunas, Belen, East Mountains). A couple music/arts-related ideas have been Warehouse 508 and a possible branch of Save The Music. Other suggestions have been breast cancer research, rape crisis, etc. Of course, sponsorship is absolutely integral to the success of the project. Please get a buzz going about the calendar. The more the idea circulates, the better it'll sell, which means it benefits not just the charity, but the businesses who will be supporting the project. In 2008, band sponsorship was awesome! We hope we can get the same support from bands for 2010. Now for the girls! We're going to take nominations for pin-up girls. Then, a committee (which includes the photographer), will decide on which ladies to feature. We don't have the committee built yet. For the women that get nominated: you need to know that this is not just about getting your picture on a calendar, it's about supporting the arts in the community in a fun and unique way. All the girls that will be featured will have to find entities to sponsor their page and then they will have to make sure that those entities stay informed about progress and events, and/or well-stocked with calendars and CDs to sell. Another thing that came up is, do we want to only feature female musicians? Or do we want to also include women who are heavily involved in the community but aren't on stage (for example, someone like RockSquawk's beloved C.C. California). So to simplify, this is what we're asking of the community: committee members ideas for a local charity ideas for sponsors/getting sponsors/sponsoring nominations for ladies to feature musicians only? non-musicians ok? spread the word! Thanks for making it to the bottom of this post! Re: LOST to end 2010
Agreed [ Sat Feb 7 2009 10:48 PM ]
The show definitely feels like its wrapping up, even though it seems that with every loose end that gets tied up, 5 more strands fall out of the knot. I'm ok with it ending next year. shittiest person: Kate. I hate her. person I miss most: Libby lamest couple: Sayid and Shannon best couple: Desmond and Penny (if they kill her off, I'ma be pissed) most awesomely mysterious: Claire...seriously WTF? badassest: either Locke or Ben best comeback: Jin |
