0836095: SECURITY ASST.UNMTemps, the University of New Mexico's internal temporary staffing department, seeks a temporary Security Assistant to join the UNMTemps General Admin Department. This is a potential temp-to-regular opportunity, subject to the selected candidate's performance throughout the temporary assignment, in addition to the business needs of the hiring department. Position Summary: Under direct supervision, provides administrative support for the security functions of a research center, institute, or satellite location. Duties may include issuance and maintenance of access cards and keys, supervision of security and/or clerical support staff, monitoring of alarm systems, preparation of clearance forms, and maintenance of security documents and other data in either hard copy or computerized formats. Duties & Responsibilities: Patrols assigned area on foot to ensure security and safety. Provides escort services for visitors, students, staff, faculty, and individuals responsible for transportation of money to or from university depositories as required. Maintains key systems and issues key card access and office keys as appropriate. Monitors intrusion detection alarms and weekly reports. Watches for and reports irregularities. These could include, but are not limited to: fire hazards, leaking water pipes, running toilets, and security doors left unlocked. Sounds alarm in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons and contacts APD/UNMPD if necessary. Assists with surplus, inventory control, and coordinating office and furniture moves. Serves as main point of contact to all external visitors. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Requirements Include: Must have good computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, and the ability to build spreadsheets. Knowledge of relevant security clearance procedures and protocols.
