The University of New Mexico-Gallup Campus is seeking a customer service and detail-oriented individual to assist with the operations of the Financial Aid Office. The Financial Aid Advisor position works within a centralized financial aid structure of the UNM-Gallup Campus. The Financial Aid Advisor advises students and parents regarding the financial aid process and provides information on available programs, procedures and eligibility. Evaluates students' financial aid requests and makes award adjustments and recalculations on less complex financial aid issues. Implements and coordinates specific individual programs and assignments requiring special knowledge in accordance with the overall objectives of the department. The Financial Aid Advisor will deliver presentations as needed to the community and work directly with community members and local high school counselors. This position is best suited for someone who prefers a fast-paced, pressure environment, adapts to change, is highly organized and actively engaged with students and develops new skills. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications: • Strong knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the provision of student financial aid. • Strong Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. • Acquire, enter, edit, and update Student Data in various internal and external systems. • Skill in use of personal computers and related software applications. • Ability to present educational programs, workshops, and/or orientations. $11.25 To $16.88 Please apply at:
